"Terrible redesign. My husband has worn these shorts for over a decade. The new pocket flap looks fine in a picture, but for someone living life, these are absolutely unusable. The pocket barely fits a phone, but the flap doesn’t close over a phone so it looks dumb with the flap up. You can’t cut the flap off, because the Velcro is there and looks weird. Who ever redesigned these has obviously never worn a pair of board shorts. We will be on the hunt for a different brand of shorts for my husband that will accommodate living real life. Please bring the old design back!!!"

They moved the pocket to the back??
"I live hawaii and surf everyday I've been buying these kaimana Style board shorts for about the last 20 years a big selling point was the zipper pocket on the side well now they've moved that pocket to the back with a cheap velcro flap Style. I won't be buying these anymore"
