In 2018, Thibault Magnin won Quiksilver’s Young Guns Ski Contest in Whistler, British Columbia by flaring both in the backcountry in the park. Sammy Carlson was so impressed with his riding, he wanted him on the Quik team. We didn’t need any more convincing than that. While Young Guns might have been our collective introduction to Thibault, it was merely a launchpad for the young Swiss-Spanish skier, who keeps getting better and better every year. Spending winters in Andorra and summers in the Caribbean, Thibault lives the life of the mountain and the wave.
Thibault’s a regular on the international contest circuit, where he’s earned medals in slopestyle and big air. He’s put out quality edits, including 2020’s Imaginations, loaded with big spins and easy style. He’s got plans to keep competing while filming, and eventually to take his freestyle skiing to the backcountry. Thib’s bag of tricks is deep. His skiing is smooth. And he’s just getting started.
