King of the Groms is back!
The future of surfing is important to us, and we put our money where our mouth is. This year, we’re bringing King of the Groms back—and giving the champ $10k. Unlike other grom contests, the focus is on freesurfing. No heats. No jerseys. No limits. It starts as a digital contest and will end at the Quik House at Pipeline. And it’s on, right now!
HOW TO ENTER

This winter, King of the Groms will be the place for emerging surf talent—celebrating the worthy, engaging fans, and reinforcing Quiksilver’s role as a key authority shaping the future of surfing. How do you get your chance to go to the North Shore?
DEADLINES
Round 1
Entrants must post a single-wave clip on Instagram before January 23, 2026.
Open to male and female surfers aged 18 and under, worldwide.
Tag @quiksilver, @stab, and #KOTG26.
Previously posted clips are allowed in this round.
Selection
Griffin Colapinto and Kauli Vaast (heard of them?) will review all entries and select a top eight.
Round 2
Each surfer submits a second single wave to Stab and Quiksilver. This time, it must be filmed within the last year.
Head-to-head matchups are posted on Instagram with a 24-hour poll.
Audience vote decides who advances.
Round 3
Each surfer submits a third single wave to Stab and Quiksilver. This time, it must be unseen/posted before.
Head-to-head matchups are posted on Instagram with a 24-hour poll.
Two winners advance to the Final.
Wildcard Picks
Griffin Colapinto and Kauli Vaast select two additional surfers from the original top eight to complete the Final.
Final
Four surfers spend one week at the Quiksilver House at Pipeline in February.
Whoever shines the brightest there wins $10,000 and an invite to the 2026 Quiksilver Festival in September.
The attempt will be to have them surf their brains out. A theme will be announced before every session. At the end of the trip, the best grom will be crowned, receiving a prize money of $10K USD and an invite to the Quiksilver Festival to team up with one of our elite surfers. The main event, with flight tickets, accommodation, car, and food will be taken care of for the entire stay. He will also be on the VIP list for all the happenings throughout the week.
