Comments about Quiksilver 1009687 Syncro 3/2mm Chest Zip GBS Wetsuit:
THE GOOD:
This is the best entry level wetsuit for winter 2012. I compared, did research, and actually tried on the following: Oneill's Epic, Rip Curl's Dawn Patrol, Billabong's Foil, and Quicksilver's Synchro.
Three major reasons why I chose the Sychro over the others: 1)100% Hyperstretch made it more comfortable and stretchier than the other wetsuits I tried on 2) Entry-level wetsuits tend to lack style and often look cheap, but the Synchro, specifically in the Grey/Yellow, looks pretty dope. 3) Free shipping saved me time and money. I was in between sizes, so I ordered two and returned the one that didnt fit at their brick and mortar location in Santa Monica.
THE BAD:
Sizing is the most important thing to consider when purchasing a wetsuit. With that said, I actually fit better into Oneill wetsuits than Quicksilver, but as mentioned above the Sychro was an overall better wetsuit, so sacrificed a bit of comfort (just a bit, but noticeable), and paid a tailor $15 to take 2 inches off the legs and to re-stitch the hem. Please note that wetsuit sizing varies between wetsuit companies and body types so this may not apply to you.
Quicksilver brick and mortar locations carry VERY LIMITED stock than what their website offers. I went to three different locations in Socal and was disappointed in the options (wetsuit model, size, color, etc.) available. Quicksilver needs to step their game up in the Supply Chain / Logistics arena to fulfill demand. Case in point - when i returned the wetsuit (that didnt fit), the Quicksilver employees at the register were "Ooing and Awwing" explaining that they didnt know that the Sychro came in that color... however, I have to say the customer service is top notch as they were cool peeps and I had no probs with the return.
