Bought these for the beaches in Hawaii. They are great as surf shorts. I have had shorts in the past loosen as I wore them in the water and the surf would nearly take them off, but these stayed fitted the whole time. Also took these hiking and they were comfortable and cool throughout that as well. My only suggestion is to wash them we before taking them into the water as they bled a little onto my white shirt after getting out of the water. That was my mistake though. I am thinking about getting a second pair in a different color. Great shorts.
