I asked for these as a gift before I went backpacking through Europe for 5 weeks mainly because I liked the style but the Vibram sole was what won me over. Not only were they comfortable, they performed well and worked well on the trail as well as in museums- a nice compromise between style and function. I would not recommend them on snow, however, as they slipped around quite a bit.
