The shorts are definitely comfortable. I generally wear a 33 or 34 in shorts and in these I wear a 33 perfectly. I also own a 34 in gray that is slightly big. As they are now on sale, they make an incredible investment. These shorts last a long time, are nice enough to wear to dinner, and are ultra comfortable. They are also the perfect length for someone who is not into the current trend of shorts extending past the knees.
