Tomorrow Today

Tour Update, 10-10-07

TransWorld SURF’s Tomorrow Today juggernaut rolled into Encinitas, CA this past weekend and lit up the La Paloma theatre for two showings. After the invite only premieres during the Action Sports Retailer Show in San Diego and the Eastern Surf Championships at the Outerbanks in September, it was time for the public to finally see the much anticipated film. First up was the Level 5 City Stage in North Carolina on September 16th then the east coast leg was wrapped up 4 shows later at the Cinema Pardiso in Fort Lauderdale on September 24th. The buzz on the east coast must have been heard on the west coast because the La Paloma was packed for both 7:30 and 9pm shows. It didn’t hurt though that TransWorld SURF was throwing out free swag from sponsors Quiksilver, Sun Diego, DC, Skullcandy, and TWS of course. The joint was amping and the film hadn’t even started yet. We probably could have left at that point since everyone was already stoked on the free gear but the movie was just too good to miss. From the opening tail whips of Clay Marzo, to Mike Losness’ backside carves in Mex, to Bobby Martinez going mental in between World Tour stops, and Yadin Nichols popping air after air, almost no one had any voices left to hoot for the final segment of Dane Reynolds. Not true actually- Dane’s huge reverses still managed to raise the roof somehow despite the hoarse attendees. Anyway, in true La Paloma surf flick style, North County San Diego showed up in force and didn’t leave disappointed or empty handed. If you missed it, too bad. But there’s still a chance to catch Tomorrow Today on the big screen at the following locations:

-La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art, October 15th
-Leamlle Theatre, Santa Monica, October 17th

Catch Tomorrow Today tomorrow! Or today! Whatever, just see it.

Tomorrow Today World Premiere

TransWorld SURF is proud to present Tomorrow/Today--TransWorld SURF’s first film. With some of the most radical surfing ever captured on film, Tomorrow/Today fuses animated dream sequences into reality, where the each surfer performs his repertoire of unbelievable tricks. Featuring the actions, words, and thoughts of five of the most progressive and relevant surfers in the world: Dane Reynolds, Bobby Martinez, Mike Losness, Yadin Nichol, and Clay Marzo--Tomorrow/Today will help bridge the gap between the present and the future.

“We’re super psyched to enter the world of film,” says TransWorld SURF Editor-In-Chief/Content Director, Chris Coté. “TransWorld Media has such an amazing history when it comes to making the best skateboarding, BMX, and motocross films. In my opinion, TransWorld SKATE’s films are the most inspirational, progressive, and relevant movies in the action sports world, and we’ll be bringing that tradition to the surf world soon.”

Shot in ultra-dynamic widescreen HD, Tomorrow/Today will most likely create a wormhole in the fiber of surf, linking what’s now to what’s next. Created by the minds of TransWorld SURF’s own editor and content director Chris Cote and creative director Marc Hostetter, produced by Josh Williams and Metalstorm Entertainment, and sponsored by DC and Quiksilver, Tomorrow/Today takes us on this journey through time.

“TransWorld SURF and Metalstorm Entertainment are truly taking things to the next level with the production of our 2007 collaboration, Tomorrow/Today,” said Josh Williams, Executive Producer, Metalstorm Entertainment Inc. “From the unsurpassed talent of a handful of the best surfers in the world, to the highest production values of next generation HD and 35mm workflow, Tomorrow/Today is shaping up to be the standard to beat in surfing films for years to come.”

Tomorrow/Today already has the surf industry talking: "This film is going to fry the rewind function on your DVD player,” says Greg Macias, Quiksilver’s Vice President of Marketing. “Dane, Bobby, Clay, Yadin and Mike's surfing provide the next generation's 'how to innovate' video.”

“I think Tomorrow/Today is going to take the surf world by storm! TransWorld SURF and Metalstorm Entertainment are known for revealing some of the most progressive content in the surf world,” says Tim English, DC shoes Surf Team Manager. “This is the next generation of surfers so prepare to be amazed!”

Even the film’s stars are talking: "I'm excited," says Dane Reynolds about being handpicked for the first ever TransWorld SURF film. "I like the cast of surfers in the film, and I'm stoked to be a part of it."
